What are the alert results format options in EBSCOhost databases?
When setting up alerts in EBSCOhost databases, you are asked to select the Alert results format: EBSCO has provided the following information about what is included for each of those options: Brief format means the basic citation details for the articles are provided for each result. Detailed format refers to the citation details of the articles along with the abstract. Bibliographic manager format refers to the generic Bibliographic manager format that contains the most commonly used fields in Bibliographic manager software products. Example: Record: 1 TI- Self-calibration of area function for mechanical property determination with nanoindentation tests. In the current methods, typically the Oliver–Pharr method, the area function is usually calibrated with the reference materials prior to practical tests. However, the accuracy and applicability of such a pre-calibrated area function have been questioned in many studies by considering the difference between the indentation response of the real test sample and that of the reference material. In order to overcome this problem, a simple method was proposed in the present study to calibrate area function and extract mechanical properties simultaneously with the same load–displacement curve. Due to the self-calibration, rather than pre-calibration, nature of this new method, the resultant area function may accurately reflect the response of the test material to nanoindentation. Analyses of the nanoindentation data measured on several typical materials, including glass, metal and ceramic, confirmed that reasonable values of Young's modulus and hardness can be extracted with this new method. How can I change the default results display in EBSCOhost databases?
You can change the default results display for EBSCOhost databases for your users as follows: Log into EBSCOadmin Ensure that the profile selected in 'Choose Profile' is 'EBSCOhost Research Databases' Click the 'Viewing Results' tab Scroll down to 'Result List View' and choose an option from the dropdown list. Select 'Detailed' to include abstracts in the results display. It is worth bearing in mind that this view can result in your end users needing to scroll a lot more through results. Your users will still be able to choose a different display option when viewing the results list. More information is available in the FAQ on the EBSCO Connect website.

How do I obtain usage statistics for CINAHL?
CINAHL is a bibliographic database covering research in nursing and allied health. It is provided by EBSCO. eJournal packages may be included in your subscription: CINAHL with Full Text; CINAHL Plus with Full Text; CINAHL Complete; and CINAHL Ultimate. COUNTER 5 reports are designed to measure usage for content such as databases, ejournals and ebooks and so should be used for this database and any associated ejournal package. Use the Database Master Report. For the CINAHL database itself, our preferred usage metric is the total of Searches Regular, Searches Automated and Searches Federated. For any associated ejournal packages, our preferred usage metric is Unique Item Requests. Login to EBSCOadmin with the username and password for your Hub instance Select Reports and Statistics from the burgundy menu ribbon In the EBSCOhost / EDS box, select COUNTER R5 Reports Choose Database Master Report from the Report Type drop-down Choose your reporting period Select the delivery method. If you select Download, the report, once created, will appear in Downloaded Reports. If you want the report emailed to you, choose E-mail and complete the fields. If you want to schedule a regular emailed report, select an appropriate frequency. Choose either Create Report for Download or E-mail Report For downloads, go to the Downloaded Reports tab. Once it's ready, select either Excel or Tab Delimited for the report you've created. The report will download into your downloads folder. Open the report. If you do not buy any of EBSCO's ejournal plus CINAHL packages, find CINAHL and check the Searches Regular, Searches Automated and Searches Federated* statistics. Add them together for the total number of searches (Searches are federated if they are performed away from the EBSCOhost platform. If this does not apply, you will not see this metric in the report). If you do buy one of EBSCO's ejournal plus CINAHL packages check the Searches Regular, Searches Automated, Searches Federated* and Unique Item Requests for the package you have bought. Add the search statistics together for the total number of searches**. * Searches are federated if they are performed away from the EBSCOhost platform. If this does not apply, you will not see this metric in the report). ** Note that CINAHL will be searched along with any additional EBSCO ejournal plus CINAHL package you have purchased. To avoid double-counting, just reference the higher figures, which will usually be for the additional package See the eResources usage statistics guidance on the KLS website for more information.
