How long does it take for changes to settings to appear on the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub?
Most of the settings related to the appearance of the Hub are now completed via a request to the Service Desk. It is likely that they will be present by the time we notify you of having completed the update. Please do check. Most changes take effect instantly. However some may take several minutes or longer. This is dependent upon a number of variables including time of day - changes may take longer in the afternoon. If you are updating your holdings on the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub then these should take effect immediately however there is a delay before the update will feed through to Third Iron. You can refresh your browser using the Ctrl +F5 key which will reload the webpage from the server. If by the next day your changes aren't visible, please check your configuration. If you still can't see the changes, please feel free to log this on the Service Desk.

What can I change on my EDS / Hub profile?
The aim is for Knowledge and Library Hub EDS profiles to have a consistent look and behaviour to enable all end-users to have a common experience when moving from one Hub instance to another. Some local customisation is still permitted to provide for a better local end-user experience. The move to the new user interface for the Hub means that there are new options for your local settings. Ahead of transition week beginning 7th July you can check your preview Hub against this list of options and take action to request any changes you might want. It will remain possible to make changes post transition as it was on the previous Hub. If a setting is not mentioned here and you think it should be changed please contact the Service Desk. Secondary Logo The new Hub has a secondary Logo on the left hand side. This defaults to your organisation logo and a link to your library website or HLISD contact page. You can choose an alternative. Custom Media Placards - buttons below the search box on the home page The Custom Media Placard offers quick visual links. The first set is universal quick access links. The secondary set can be used to add 4 or 5 buttons for your service priorities. For more information including a full list of buttons we have available see this FAQ. We have also made guidance on creating your own images. Set up your Custom Media Placard - https://knowledgehub.freshservice.com/support/catalog/items/93 this structured service request helps guide you through providing the required information. Modify your Custom Media Placard - https://knowledgehub.freshservice.com/support/catalog/items/98 request changes A link on the Custom Media Placard labelled "Explore collection" currently launches a new search. Localisations already set LMS related localisations have been set where available. 1. SWIMS and Koha Libraries (apart from KSS) have default library locations set on searching. This means you see ebooks and books from your library as well as the main Hub results reducing the number of non accessible library items offered to users. 2. Can I integrate KnowledgeShare Evidence search form using Ask-a-librarian?
It is possible to set your Ask-a-librarian link to point to your KnowledgeShare Evidence Search Request Form. The Service desk will set your Ask-a-Librarian to direct users to the link https://go.openathens.net/redirector/nhs?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.knowledgeshare.nhs.uk%2Findex.php%3FPageID%3Dliterature_search_request_edit Your users should be taken directly to the Form if they are already logged in or will be directed to the OpenAthens login on KnowledgeShare. Once the search request is completed it will go into your team's pending list and (depending on LKS settings) an email may be triggered to team administrators. Please contact the Service Desk for assistance with making this change.

What are the steps towards merging Hub instances?
The direction of travel is towards the number of Hub instances reducing. Reductions may come due to Trust mergers or where services are being delivered on a geographic / Integrated Care System basis. Having multiple versions of the Hub for a single organisation is confusing for users and carries significant additional administrative overhead (as well as being a poor use of public funds). Each merger will be different and the Hub team are here to help. This FAQ covers some of the elements that you will need to consider and decide on. Please raise a ticket using this form to request the Hub merger and to ask for additional help. Steps for the Hub Decide which Hub instance you are going to keep after the merger. Making changes to this instance as you progress the merger will allow for gradual transition to the single Hub and for a smooth final transition. Any unused old instances will be deleted by EBSCO but the URL will offer a route back to your Hub via Find My Organisation. Will you need to plug more than one OpenAthens organisation into the Hub instance? If so, which ones? Electronic resource collections will need to be aligned. You can have more than one OpenAthens OrgID attached to a Hub but you can only have one version of HLM. Ejournal holdings need to match across the linked OpenAthens OrgIDs coming together on the instance or some users will be guided to non-functioning links. Print journal collections in HLM will need to be copied across. If you have print journal collections for the merging organisations, please flag this so that we can ask EBSCO to copy them across. Review which Databases are selected for discovery in each Hub instance - check for differences and decide what your final selection will be on the merged Hub Instance. Are there different LMS catalogues to include? Decide on where Ask-A-Librarian requests will be routed - this could be a chat box or webpage - email addresses are not supported in the new interface. Decide on which website to point to from the navigation bar and secondary logo Decide on which email address should receive ILL requests - the standard ILL form only supports one email address Confirm which Third Iron account you will use if there are different accounts for some of the merging instances. Once collections are aligned you will only need one Third Iron account which will need a single email for receipt of INCDocs requests. Confirm entries for the Further resources section - this will likely require a review of the Hub instances to be merged and discussion of what you are trying to achieve through these links Provide the name of the organisation to be displayed in the title area of the page Confirm how the local Library Limiters will need to change. You can either have a single library limiter for all the libraries on the instance or you can maintain separate entries for these. Maintaining separate library entries would allow users to limit to stock in one location if you have an integrated LMS and could allow for different ebook collections if discovered via an integrated LMS Having thought through each of these steps you should be able to make the changes to settings with assistance from the Service Desk. Please fill in the form to request the changes. An FAQ on merging OpenAthens OrgIDs is under preparation.
