Which holdings do I need to maintain in EBSCO Holdings Manager?
You need to keep EBSCO Holdings Management (HLM) updated with regard to your locally purchased databases, e-journals and print journals. There is information on maintaining HLM. Some packages are specific to a particular year e.g. Wiley Medicine & Nursing 2021. In these cases you need to select the version of the package relating to the current year when it becomes available in HLM and deselect the older one. National content is switched on by default in Holdings Manager for all. You do not need to update national content as any changes will be carried out centrally. But you can check what packages should be switched on for the national content. National content comprises: All of the nationally purchased databases and e-journals Nationally and regionally available e-books Freely available quality content

How do I add or remove packages in EBSCO Holdings Manager and how do I know which package to select?
Packages are publishers' collections of electronic resources. These are often electronic journals but can include other types of content too. Please see information about packages on the EBSCO Connect website. It includes: Searching for packages Adding packages from package search results Adding packages or specific titles from the package detail screen See also EBSCO's very short tutorial. See also information about package types on the EBSCO Connect website. Package types include Complete and Variable. If you use OpenAthens to access a resource, ensure when you select the package(s) in EBSCO Holdings Management (HLM) to select the option Inherited – OpenAthens redirector in the Proxy Server field. When updating packages, please note that it can take several days for a newly enabled resource in HLM to display in your NHS Knowledge and Library Hub or Journals A-Z or BrowZine results. More information about update timescales is available in the article How are LibKey and BrowZine links kept up to date in the Knowledge and Library Hub? Choosing the correct package Sometimes it may not be obvious which package or collection to select. Packages and collections sometimes have a different name in HLM to that to which the publisher refers. In addition the same package or collection may have different names in different knowledgebases, e.g. one name in Ovid's link resolver and a different one in HLM. For example if you subscribe to Mark Allen journals you might expect to find these by searching on Mark Allen in HLM. However Mark Allen journals are available via package names such as MAH Complete and Internurse. The best way to confirm that you are enabling the correct resource in HLM is to compare the URL you use to access the titles in your subscribed collection with the Managed URL that has been set up for the titles in the package in HLM. Here's how to do this: 1. In HLM under Vendors, search for the vendor (publisher or aggregator) whose content you subscribe to. More information is available on searching by vendor. 2. After selecting the correct vendor, click on the Packages tab to see the names of all of the packages that are available via this vendor in HLM: 3. Look through the list of available packages from this vendor to see if there is a package that looks like it may be the collection that you subscribe to. The number of titles listed for each package can be a helpful clue. 4. If you see a package that looks like it may be the same one that you subscribe to, click on the package name, and then on the Titles tab to see all the available titles in this package: 5. To find the URL that EBSCO has set up for the title in this package, click on the Title Name. You can either click the Preview button, which will open a new window with the link to the title on the vendors site, or you can scroll down to Managed URL to view the access URL: 6. If the Managed URL for this title matches the link that you use to access your subscribed content from this vendor, you can enable the title from the Title menu by clicking on the Not Selected button under Current Holdings, and then choosing Select this Title to just select this one title, or Select Entire Package if you want to enable the whole package (you may want to compare a few more URLs for other titles in the package to confirm that you have found the right package before enabling selecting the entire package in HLM.) If after these steps you still can't find the correct resource in HLM, here's what to do.

What should I do if a link to full-text I have clicked says that I don't have access?
Check if you are entitled to access this content. You will be entitled either because you subscribe locally or because it is part of the nationally purchased content. If possible, take a screenshot of the error message you see when you try to access the content. Check which OpenAthens organisation your account belongs to. These details may help resolve the problem. If you have a local subscription, the person responsible for your local subscriptions should contact the publisher to check that they have activated it and to resolve any issues. If it is a national subscription or you are not sure, please log a ticket on the Hub service desk. Include your screenshot and OpenAthens organisation ID if you can. If you don't have a local subscription and it's not part of the nationally purchased content, deselect the relevant package/title(s) in EBSCO Holdings Manager. You can use the Hide this Publication option in EBSCO Holdings Manager if you do not want to deselect a title immediately. If you do this, remember to untick the Hide checkbox when the problem is resolved.

What should I do if links aren't appearing for full-text which I'm entitled to access?
1. Check that you are logged in with your OpenAthens login. 2. Check that the title/collection is selected in EBSCO Holdings Management, that the title is not hidden and that the coverage start and end dates are correct. 3. Ensure that your packages are set up to include all newly added titles: In EBSCOadmin click on Holdings Management Select Packages Search for a specific package In the Current Holdings column, click the against the package name and select the option ‘Select All Titles From this package’ Then click on the package name, scroll down, and ensure that the option ‘Allow EBSCO To Select New Titles’ is set to Yes and then click Save: It seems that locally subscribed packages copied from the Ovid Link Resolver were not set up to include new titles, so it’s a good idea to check your locally subscribed packages. Nationally selected packages seem to be set up correctly. This should not be an issue when selecting a new package – the correct defaults should be set. 4. See the information about how LibKey links are kept up-to-date. If you continue to have problems, please log a ticket on the Hub Service Desk.

What should I do if when I click a link I'm not taken directly to the full-text?
Sometimes when you click a link you aren't taken to the full-text but to the publisher's homepage or similar. A known issue with Proquest can see you taken to the wrong article as Proquest sometimes makes a best guess when your expected article is not found. If this occurs, please log a ticket on the Hub Service Desk , and include as much information as you can such as the search interface you were using, bibliographic details and the error message / result seen. A screenshot is often helpful, and please include your OpenAthens organisation details if possible. These errors are often caused by issues with metadata or with incorrect open access information and many of these can be corrected.

How do I hide titles and packages in EBSCO Holdings Manager?
You may wish to prevent a package or a title in your collection from displaying in the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub and in other services such as Google Scholar. This might be, for example, because the publisher hasn't yet activated the subscription. Please see the information on the EBSCO Connect website on how to hide packages or titles. Hiding Packages can be an effective way to deal with things added in error by EBSCO automated processes. These can relate to your old orders or expiring subscriptions. An article on EBSCO Connect explains how the Auto-population of HLM happens.

How do I download my holdings in EBSCO Holdings Manager?
Please see the information on the EBSCO Connect website. If you wish to download individual packages or collections, select the Standard rather than the KBART Type. If you select the KBART type, there isn't an option to select the package or collection and the process will download all of your holdings into one file.
