What Kortext titles are available via the Hub?
All HEE purchased Kortext titles are available via the Hub. This includes the: Diversity and equality collection Primary care collection Resilience and wellbeing collection Sustainability collection Plus the relevant regional collection - North, Midlands, South, and London and KSS. To make HEE purchased Kortext titles visible in the Knowledge and Library Hub, your regional Kortext collection should be selected in the Databases area, as this provides both the discoverability and linking (you don't need to turn anything on in HLM). To check if you have Kortext turned on in the databases area: Go to EBSCOadmin Ensure you have the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub (hee_eds) - eds profile selected Click on the Databases tab Make sure the Show box is set to Enabled You should see an entry for Kortext: In this case, it's the North of England version of the database that has been enabled, but it might show for you as Midlands, South or London, Kent, Surrey & Sussex. If you buy addition titles from Kortext for your own organisation, how you make them discoverable depends on whether you are part of a regional Library Management System, and whether that LMS has been integrated with the Hub. If your LMS has been integrated, then the metadata and linking is provided via your catalogue. If it hasn't, then there is no easy way to get any locally-purchased Kortext ebooks integrated at the moment. You will need to experiment with turning on various ebook database indexes to make as many of your ebook titles as discoverable as possible. If you need help doing this, please raise a ticket with the service desk. We are working with Kortext and EBSCO on a better solution for this, and will update this article as soon as we are able to. How do I order books via Kortext?
Sign into the Kortext platform using your e-mail address which will then prompt you to sign in with your OpenAthens account https://read.kortext.com You should see an ‘Acquisitions’ link on the left-hand side of the screen. If this is not there, please contact support@kortext.com and they will add it to your profile Note: If this is the first time that you are using the Acquisitions platform, please also ask support@kortext.com to create a ‘Project’ on your account. To begin an order, click on Add Order Basket Acquisitions page Create a Basket, ensuring that the Project is selected. Ensure that you add key information in the Description field: Whether this is a local purchase for just your Trust, if you are part of a collaborative, add this information so that Kortext know to also enable access to this title to the other participating Trusts. If you have a deposit account with Kortext, note this so that the costs can be deducted. Please otherwise add the PO number for the invoice. New order basket page Click on ‘Add materials’ so that you can start to add titles to your order: Your basket page Start searching for titles Searching for titles Once you have found the book you are looking for, select the license under which you would like to purchase the title and Click Add to BasketLicence options Note: Our preferred model is the ‘300 Credits Perpetual’. This credit model means that you are purchasing the title outright with 300 credits per year that will automatically renew. Some titles may have Unlimited perpetual. Use the arrow to find this and scroll through the range of models available. If the 300 or Unlimited Perpetual model is not available for the title you are searching, the other options to consider are: 3 User Perpetual – you will still purchase the book in perpetuity and a maximum of 3 users will be able to access it a time. The 1:1 options are a Higher Education individual textbook model and should be ignored. If there is no suitable option, select ‘Custom POA’ and the Kortext team will come back to you with a quote. In some instances, only a subscription model may be available due to publisher restrictions. To add additional books to your basket, go back to your basket and ‘Search Kortext’ again. Once you’ve finished preparing your order click on ‘Submit’ and take a note of the reference number. Submitting your order If you want to come back to your order, your basket will stay open on your account for 60 days. The Kortext team will then be in touch to finalise the order. If you have any queries, contact support@kortext.com or log a call via our NHSE service desk.

How does the Kortext collaborative purchasing model work?
Kortext provides a collaborative purchasing model whereby you can create or join a collaboration of up to 35 NHS organisations. Any e-book title which is purchased by a participating library is made available by Kortext to other libraries within the consortium. Books from Kortext are generally purchased in perpetuity, on a credit model basis. There are 300 credits per title which are automatically renewed each year. The credits in a consortium are therefore shared between all the libraries. If they should run out, more would need to purchased, but in reality this has never happened even with popular titles. There is an existing London and Kent, Surrey and Sussex consortium which is currently up to capacity. Another regional group exists for the Midlands and East of England. If you are interested in joining one of the above consortiums, or creating a new regional or specialty based group, please contact Helene Gorring
