How do I manage Custom Media Placards in the new Hub interface?

Modified on: Tue, 5 Aug 2025 09:10

Custom Media Placards offer a way to include visual links to significant resources and services on your Hub instance.

There are two rows of buttons available.

The first row has been set nationally.

Please note - we cannot change the link text for "Explore collection" see the explanation below.

A second row can be set to meet the needs of each organisation.  We expect this to be a place to highlight key services and / or key resources.  Most libraries are leading on services.

You can have either 4 or 5 buttons on your row.  The following information is required.

  1. Heading: Enter text to be displayed at the top of the placard.

  2. Link to full collection: Provide the URL for the “Explore collection” link that will appear at the top of the placard.  We are unable to change the Link text which reflects EBSCO thinking of these placards as being for promoting specific titles within ebook collections.  We have defaulted this link to launch a new search.  You could change it to a different value but the link text cannot change.  Our suggestion is that you may wish to use this link to point to your OPAC - send a request to the Service Desk with the URL if this is the case.

  3. Image layout:

    1. Mixed - Select this option if your images include a combination of horizontal and portrait orientations. It supports five images.

    2. Horizontal - Choose this option if your images are predominantly horizontal in orientation. It supports four images

  4. Individual images

    1. Choose an image file

      1. For the mixed layout: We recommend using images that are at least 166px wide and/or 213px tall.

      2. For the horizontal layout. We recommend using images that are at least 220px wide and 125px tall or a 16:9 aspect ratio. Choose images that are the same size or are at least wider than they are tall.

      3. For both layout options, the supported file formats are JPG, PNG, and SVG.

    2. Add the title, item format, and destination URL for each image
