Should I use EBSCOHost Passport?

EBSCOHost Passport is a browser extension that offers some of the same features as LibKey Nomad to support discovery of open access and paid content on non library websites. It does this by spotting DOIs and inserting an icon for the content.

An assessment was carried out in 2025 to consider what role it might have alongside the current national subscription to LibKeyNomad.

Nomad was found to have superior coverage for open access, faster functioning and clearer labelling.

It is not possible to run Passport effectively alongside Nomad and we therefore consider there is currently no case for using EBSCOHost Passport on NHS systems.
